Sydney and Will’s Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding is such a beautiful reminder that weddings don’t have to fit into one single box. Before their larger celebration in North Carolina, they chose to get married at the Brooklyn courthouse in a way that felt quiet, intentional, and completely theirs. No pressure, no audience, just the two of them, soaking in the meaning of the day. I love sharing stories like this because so many couples don’t realize that you don’t have to choose between an intimate wedding and a big celebration. You can absolutely have both!

A Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding That Was Just for Them

Sydney and Will wanted their Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding to feel like a pause before the whirlwind, something deeply personal that they could experience together before celebrating with everyone they love later on. The ceremony itself was simple and emotional, and honestly, those are often my favorite kinds! There’s something so grounding about saying your vows without distraction, knowing that this moment exists just for the two of you. It wasn’t about skipping the big wedding, it was about adding another layer of meaning to their story.

Celebrating the Little Brooklyn Moments After Their Ceremony

After their Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding, we spent the rest of the day wandering through downtown Brooklyn, focusing on the small, everyday moments that make the city feel like home to them. They grabbed free pastries and coffee from L’Appartement 4F and enjoyed them on the steps of a classic Brooklyn brownstone, one of those moments that felt effortless and very them! We walked the Brooklyn Promenade with views of the skyline, paused in quiet corners, and even captured a few moments in the subway. They wanted this part of the day to reflect the Brooklyn they love, unpolished, meaningful, and full of memories!

You Can Have an Intimate Wedding and a Big Celebration

This is the part I really want couples to hear: you don’t have to choose!! A Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding can exist alongside a larger wedding day, not instead of it. For so many couples, having an intimate ceremony first takes the pressure off and allows them to be fully present when the bigger celebration comes around. It becomes a way to honor your relationship in multiple ways, at different paces, without sacrificing what matters to you. There’s no “right” timeline, just the one that feels best for you.
