This Boerum Hill engagement session felt like stepping into a little pocket of Europe right here in Brooklyn, intimate, intentional, and deeply personal. Natalie and Zane didn’t want anything overly staged or trendy. They wanted their real life. Their streets. Their places. From starting at Zane’s coffee shop to ending the night with cocktails at their favorite restaurant, every stop told a piece of their story. And that’s exactly what makes an engagement session feel elevated without ever feeling forced!
Loved One’s & Dean Street: Where Their Story Lives
We began at Loved One’s, Zane’s coffee shop tucked into Boerum Hill. The window light poured in softly, creating that moody, cinematic glow that feels straight out of a European café. Natalie leaned back into him by the window, the city reflections dancing across the glass, and it felt effortlessly romantic. There’s something so special about starting a Boerum Hill engagement session somewhere that actually matters to you, not just a pretty location, but a space you’ve built a life in. From there, we walked to Dean Street. To most people it’s just a Brooklyn crosswalk, but for them it’s meaningful, they even named their dog Dean after this street. That detail alone says so much about how rooted they are in this neighborhood. We captured them mid-crosswalk with brownstones lining the block, golden light hitting the brick, and that classic NYC energy humming around them. It was personal in a way that feels timeless.
Golden Hour in the Park & Champagne on the Curb
As we wandered toward a nearby park they love, the light shifted into that warm, glowing sunset that makes Brooklyn feel almost cinematic. Tree-lined sidewalks, quiet side streets, brownstone stoops, it all carried this understated elegance. Natalie’s dress caught the light beautifully, and the two of them just melted into each other in the most natural way. No stiff posing, just gentle guidance and space to be themselves. Then we popped a bottle of champagne and sat on the curb. Honestly, it might have been my favorite part of the entire session. It was simple, playful, and completely “them.” Those little celebratory moments, clinking glasses, laughing between sips, sunlight bouncing off the brick behind them, are what make a Boerum Hill engagement session feel elevated but still grounded. It doesn’t have to be elaborate to be beautiful!
Cocktails, Brick Walls & That European Date Night Feel
We ended the evening at their favorite neighborhood restaurant, surrounded by exposed brick and warm lighting. It felt cozy and intimate, like the natural ending to a perfect Brooklyn date night. They toasted with cocktails, leaned in close at the marble bar, and soaked in the moment. It was romantic without trying too hard, polished but still completely personal. That’s something I always remind couples: New York already has the character. You don’t need to manufacture magic here. When we build your engagement session around places that are meaningful to you, the photos instantly feel layered and intentional. Natalie and Zane’s Boerum Hill engagement session is proof that when your story leads the way, everything else falls beautifully into place!
Sweet words from the client
"My husband and I couldn’t be happier with our experience! We worked with Nicole on two separate occasions - she captured both our engagement and elopement photos, and beautifully at that! The turnaround time was incredibly fast, and every detail in the photos felt tailored to us as a couple - which we
discussed the vision in detail prior to the day of photos. On the day, Nicole was such a joy to work with— we had so much fun and she made us feel completely at ease. The moments they captured are stunning and truly ones we’ll treasure forever. I can not recommend her enough!"
